Andrea kicked things off with a Gitaxian Probe, taking a peek at Luca's hand. Luca went searching with Scalding Tarn on his turn and both players simply dropped a second land on their respective second turns.

Andrea tested the waters with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, but Pyroblast was supposed to foil that plan, however, Mental Misstep made sure the Legendary Creature resolved.

Luca tried to fight back, but Force of Will from Luca made sure Andrea couldn't commit to the board. At least Andrea found an answer for Jace, so the board was suddenly empty again.

Dack Fayden entered play!

Dack Fayden resolved and Luca tried to find an answer with Dig Through Time. Andrea had yet another counter, though. It seemed like Luca was slowly, but steadily running out of resources; he could only drop another land before passing play.

Andrea now stepped on the gas pedal!

Andrea now had everything he needed to put Luca on a clock: Dack Fayden, Monastery Mentor and Gush. Luca only needed one more draw before accessing his sideboard.

Andrea takes the lead!

Both players seemed to feel happy with their main decks as they didn't spend a lot of time swapping cards from their sideboards.

Luca Lovino now had to win two wins in a row!

Preordain was Luca's start in the second game and he added a Mox to be able to move far ahead with a Monastery Mentor on his following turn.

A bit of a counter war ensued – a picture says more than a thousand words…

A Mental Misstep AND Mindbreak Trap were Andrea's answers!

A Mental Misstep AND Mindbreak Trap were Andrea's answers!

Luca had Mental Misstep and Mindbreak Trap; that's how he ended up with 2 tokens after the resolution of the chain. He added Jace, Vryn's Prodigy on his following turn and Andrea was now feverishly looking for answers.

A Black Lotus, Monastery Mentor and an answer for Jace, Vryn's Prodigy turned the tables and suddenly catapulted Andrea into the driver's seat!

Luca was left with just one card in hand, he drew and he immediately passed play again. Andrea continued to apply pressure, he added Jace, Vryn's Prodigy of his own and now it was up to Luca to find an answer.

He cast Gush, Andrea had a counter, and that concluded the game!
