The Eldritch Moon was rising and soon would turn the tides of various formats. The new set would obviously have the most influence in Standard, but which cards should we expect to play the biggest role here in the upcoming months? We asked a couple of players for their insight …

Ricardo Silva, winner of Modern Trial 5:

Tamiyo, Field Researcher directly competes with Collected Company for deck space and will probably have to wait until Company rotates. Thalia, Herectic Cathar on the other hand should be great in and against Company decks.”

JK's Mitja Held
JK Entertainment's financial analyst Mitja Held:

“I think the most played cards will be Liliana, the Last Hope, Emrakul, the Promised End, Spell Queller, Grim Flayer, Thalia, Heretic Cathar, the new Baneslayer Angel [Gisela, the Broken Blade / Brisela, Voice of Nightmares], and, simply because the Bant colors are so dominant in Standard at the moment, Tamiyo, Field Researcher.”

Rodrigo Togores
MKM Series Top 8 regular and recent Grand Prix champion Rodrigo Togores:

“I don't really play Standard, but Coax from the Blind Eternities looks like an interesting card. So that you don't get stuck with some hugely expensive, uncastable Eldrazi in hand. Blue Tron decks in Modern could also use the card instead of having to stuff their deck full of various Eldrazi while still retaining all the options. And I generally like Collective Brutality because discarding a card is such a low cost and the effects are so useful. Reminds me of Izzet Charm.”

Carlos Moral
Grand Prix Prague 2014 semifinalist Carlos Moral:

Take Inventory is definitely a card I'm interested in. And I'm wondering about the new Fact or Fiction [Fortune's Favor], especially in combination with Take Inventory, of course.”

Sergio García
Sometime PT and WMC competitor Sergio García:

Emrakul, the Promised End and [Bruna, the Fading Light / Brisela, Voice of Nightmares/Gisela, the Broken Blade / Brisela, Voice of Nightmares] are the two cards I like the most. But I think Incendiary Flow might have the biggest impact on Standard. That was an effect which the format was sorely lacking. And I wonder about Mirrorwing Dragon.”
