On the eve of the Legacy main event here at the MKM Series Milan 2017, we decided to take a look at what happened before. Sixteen weeks ago, players from all over Europe gathered in Prague for the fifth and final stop of the MKM Series 2017, including 216 Legacy lovers …

Deck of the Tournament

Miracles continued to reign supreme. It took the top spot in the metagame, placed two of its pilots into the Top 8, and, in the hands of Angelo Cadei, claimed the title and trophy too!

A little more out there, if ultimately unable to overcome Miracles in the semifinals, was Rémy de Brugière's Food Chain. Using the namesake enchantment to cast and exile Misthollow Griffin or Eternal Scourge over and over again, de Brugière would end games spectacularly with Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.

Match of the Tournament

It wasn't the most exciting gameplay that was on display here, but the final did give a good impression of the current state of Legacy. With a clean 2-0 sweep, Angelo Cadei proved the strength of Miracles as well as his own prowess with the deck.

Alexander Beiersdorfer had piloted his Lands masterfully so far, but in the end he stood no chance against Sensei's Divining Top plus Counterbalance.

Notable Finishes

Just a week previously Jérôme Bastogne had made it all the way to the finals at the 2016 World Magic Cup as part of Team Belgium. At the Legacy main event of MKM Series Prague 2016, he finished in the Top 8. As did two-time MKM Series Vintage champion Mikael Linden and Grand Prix Lille 2016 quarterfinalist Daniel Ballestin.

In the end, however, no one was able to stop Angelo Cadei who had already won multiple big Legacy and Modern tournaments. At the Modern main event of MKM Series Madrid 2015, Cadei had lost in the final, now he was finally able to add an MKM Series trophy to his collection. Congratulations!
