Rodrigo Togores won the Legacy Grand Prix in Prague back in 2016 with his Storm deck. Today he played the same deck although he adjusted the main deck and the sideboard for the new metagame. His opponent Ivan Cane brought Eldrazi Ramp to the table.

Game 1

Togores kept his seven cards while his opponent chose to mulligan instead. Cane was still not happy with his six cards and took another mulligan down to five cards. He kept and scryed to the bottom.
Ancient Tomb entered the battlefield on Cane’s site of the table.
Togores used his first turn to get Underground Sea with Misty Rainforest. He played Cabal Therapy naming Trnisphere but missed it. Lion’s Eye Diamond hit the table and Togores passed the turn.

Cane played the second Ancient Tomb and Chalice of the Void for one, going down to 18 life due to the damge from his land.
Chalice on one was no fun for Togores so he drew a card and passed the turn without any action.
Cane had another land and played Thought-Knot Seer. In response Togores cast Brainstorm just have it countered by the Chalice. When the Eldrazi resolved, Cane exiled Cabal Ritual allowing Togores not to gain any use from a full graveyard.
With Chalice and Thought-Knot Seer on the table, Togores again drew a card an passed the turn.
On his turn Cane attacked with the Eldrazi reducing Togores’ life total down to 15. In his second main phase Cane summoned the second Thought-Knot Seer exiling Dark Ritual. With 11 life because of the Ancient Tombs, Cane said go.

Without being able to do any action, Togores just passed the turn.
Cane continued the beatdown with his two Eldrazi knocking Togores down to 7 life.
Togores had one turn left to win or a least handle the two Thought-Knot Seer. He drew his card for the turn and found no answer.

Cane won the first game of the match 1-0

Game 2

As in game one Togores kept his seven cards while Cane went down to six cards and left the card on top of his library.
Togores started the game with Swamp and Duress targeting his opponent. Cane was forced to discard Trinisphere and kept two City of Traitors, two Grim Monolith, and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger.
Cane drew a card for this turn and used the two colorless mana from his City of Traitors to resolve Chalice of the Void with one counter- nice topdeck!
But Togores was not impressed. He fetched Tropical Island and started playing Spells: Cabal Ritual, Lotus Petal, Lion's Eye Diamond, Infernal Tutor (cracking the LED in response), and Empty the Warrens for ten Goblin tokens. Togores created a two turn clock without playing a single spell with converted mana cost one.
Cane tried to find answers but was not able to get any solution during his two remaining turns and scooped.

The match was tied at 1-1

Game 3

Both players kept their opening hands and Cane started with Ancient Tomb and Chalice of the Void with one counter. Togores played Misty Rainforest and Lotus Petal.
On his second turn, Cane had four colorless mana available and cast Thought-Knot Seer. In response to the trigger Togores cast Echoing Truth on the Chalice. Thought-Knot Seer exiled Lion’s Eye Diamond.

Although he wasn’t able to cast the Chalice for one again, Cane had summoned a quiet threatening clock which attacked Togores down to 13 life in Cane’s next turn. When Cane played the Chalice again, Togores had Abrupt Decay as an answer.
While Togores played Polluted Delta and passed, Cane resolved Trinisphere and attacked Togores down to 10 life. Hard times for the Spanish player: he drew and said go only to have Thought-Knot Seer attack him down to 6 life.
With five cards in hand Togores payed three mana to cast Gitaxian Probe because of the Trinisphere.
Cane attacked Togores down to 1 life, played Voltaic Key and passed.

Not happy about the situation Togores tried to survive: Cabal Ritual and Tendrills of Agony brought Togores to 5 life and Cane to 11 life.
Once more Cane attacked Togores down to 1 life and managed to resolve a second Thought-Knot Seer. Cane saw Infernal Tutor, Ad Nauseam, Dark Ritual, and Empty the Warrens. He exiled Empty the Warrens and passed the turn with two Eldrazis and Trinisphere on the field.
Togores found no answer and offered the handshake.

Ivan Cane took the match 2-1 and advanced to the Semifinal
