On the eve of MKM Series Barcelona, it was time for us to once again take a step back and review what happened so far … Just seven weeks ago, players from all over Europe gathered in Hamburg for the fourth and penultimate stop of the MKM Series in 2017, including 99 stars of Standard.

Deck of the Tournament

Green-White Ramp was without a doubt the big winner of the tournament. It's biggest selling point: Against the ubiquitous Temur Energy it had an easy game like no other. Thoralf Severin and Arne Huschenbeth entered the Top 8 with identical green-white main decks on a combined record of 12-1-1, and Huschenbeth went on to win the whole thing!

Match of the Tournament

In our video interview with the eventual champion, Huschenbeth admitted with a sheepish grin that he had played against four Temur Energy decks so far. The match which settled it all, however, came later. It was yet another, a fifth battle between Huschenbeth and Temur Energy. Needless to say that Temur again stood no chance.

Notable Finishes

For three members of Berlin's active community—Arne Huschenbeth, Thoralf Severin, and Jamin Kauf—this marked their second Top 8 at the MKM Series each. They dominated the tournament and ended things in first, second, and third place, respectively.
