With more stops and more events than ever this was going to be happy new year at the MKM Series, and we wasted no time to get going! We started into the new season right away on this, the very first weekend of 2018. For a fresh look at the state of Legacy, we asked some of the more notable players in attendance what they considered to be the most underrated decks of the format at the moment …

Julian Knab, second among the MKMS Power 8: “Miracles. The deck has never really gone away and recent results have made it look even better than a lot of people give it credit for. I think it's one of the top three decks of Legacy right now, yet people are still somewhat scared to jump back on the bandwagon. From a format perspective, a great thing about New Miracles is that, unlike its predecessor, it now makes for exciting games against nonblue midrange decks, which I'm really happy about. Honorable mentions go out to all Sneak Attack/Show and Tell variants, which I think are also slightly underrated.”

Rodrigo Togores, veteran of seven MKM Series Top 8s and two-time GP champion: “Deathblade is a great deck and people don't play it for whatever reason, even after various articles said that it's the deck with the best winrate.”

Kevin Wagner, member the MKMS Power 8: “Canadian Treshold for sure. Its biggest issue is that it has a very low floor when piloted poorly; the ceiling when piloted by a master is absurd though.”

Thoralf “Toffel” Severin, veteran of two MKM Series Top 8s and two GP Top 8s: “Death and Taxes as well as Reanimator.”

Tomas Mar, member of the MKMS Power 8: “Lands.”
