On the eve of MKM Series Hamburg, it was once again time for us to follow long-standing tradition and to review what happened last time at the MKM Series. Nine weeks ago, players from all over Europe gathered in Rome for the second stop of the MKM Series 2018, including 28 Limited lovers …

Deck of the Tournament

It was an embarassment of riches what WMC semifinalist Philipp Krieger got for his Sealed Deck …

A sweet curve with six creatures for 2 mana or less, solid mana including some Treasure, and spoilers like Golden Demise, Journey to Eternity // Atzal, Cave of Eternity, Vona's Hunger, Entrancing Melody, Tendershoot Dryad, and Tetzimoc, Primal Death. In Krieger's capable hands the deck proved unbeatable, and at 5-0, he was the first to enter the Top 8—his third at Series main events in as many starts!

Match of the Tournament

The final wasn't exactly close. Rather, it turned into a showcase of another great deck, of what was possible in Rivals Limited if one was the only green-blue drafter at a table.

Luca Ravagli versus Eiyong Ahn

Luca Ravagli's Merfolk deck featured two copies each of Merfolk Mistbinder, Silvergill Adept, Watertrap Weaver, Crashing Tide, and Hunt the Weak. Eiyong Ahn had drafted a fine specimen of White-Black Vampires but stood no chance regardless. Ahn took it with humor, but what he took was quite the beating.

Notable Finishes

Going into the Booster Draft, German national champion Philipp Krieger was the only one among the quarterfinalists who could boast another Top 8 finish at the Series, two in his case even. However, he wouldn't remain the only one. Before the weekend was done, both Limited finalists, Eiyong Ahn and Luca Ravagli, would again place in the Top 8 of the Standard main event.

A lucky Sealed Deck earned Philipp Krieger his third Series Top 8
