It truly was a miracle …

Scratch that. The Legacy main event of MKM Series Prague 2017 was a story of manifold miracles, from start to finish. To begin with, the player turnout surpassed all expectations, with 295 participants almost drawing even with Saturday's massive Modern tournament. The end was equally epic, as the event concluded with our first back-to-back victory in Legacy: Johannes Gutbrod had triumphed in Frankfurt and he triumphed again now.

Another miracle: the return of Miracles, the deck. Shortly before the event in Frankfurt, the banning of Sensei's Divining Top had sent Miracles players scrambling for alternative decks. Including Gutbrod who had switched to Sneak & Show then to take down the tournament. But he never gave up on his favorite archetype and found a way to bring it back to life, back to form even, back—in short—to the very top of the Legacy metagame …

Metagame Breakdown

Take a look at the breakdown of the decks in our Legacy main event at the MKM Series Prague 2017. 295 players came to play with the original dual lands today. At third stop here in Prague players primarily put their trust in Grixis and Stoneblade variants, with Elves, BUG (Leovold), and Death & Taxes following behind. Sneak and Show was the most played Combo deck this weekend followed by Storm and BR Reanimator. With Grixis decks as the most played archetype, though times for Combo players in the Legacy format had come.

We registered 42 different archetypes overall, so obviously we had to cut the list short somewhere, but you might just find some of the less played archetypes like Merfolk, Goblins, Lands and so on (41 decks in total) in the Top 8 decklist section later.
