We're here in Zaragoza, which is playing host to the finale of the 2018 MKM Series. Players are gathering to see who will be crowned the winner of our leaderboard. Speaking of which, the Top 4 are practically in a dead heat, each within a slim four-point margin.

In Modern, we'll have to see the answer to the all-important question of whether White-Blue Control will continue to dominate Modern at the 2018 MKM Series. Metagame Breakdown

B/G/x Midrange was the archetype of the day in the Modern Main Event, with roughly 10 percent of the field, or 22 players, choosing Jund, Abzan, or B/G Rock. After that, W/U/x Control followed shortly thereafter, with 19 players sleeving up their Cryptic Commands. Tron players also came out in force, being the third most played archetype at 17 players.

Dredge, a currently reemerging powerhouse in Modern, didn't disappoint here, managing to secure 12 pilots with the allure of a new staple in the archetype – Creeping Chill. Additionally and unlike in Paris, Hardened Scales failed to outperform traditional Affinity, with seven opting for the old standard and six electing to try out Ancient Stirrings with their Arcbound Ravagers.

Humans and Bant Spirits also had significant representation here, as the de factor aggro decks of choice, but it looks as though Humans is still the tribal deck of choice here, with 15 players choosing Mantis Rider and eight players choosing Drogskol Captain. As always, and even more so in this particular instance, Modern at these events is incredibly wide, with a whopping 68 decks falling into our Other category. One notable “Other” archetype was the new Izzet Phoenix, chosen by two of our players, which looks to leverage the Standard powerhouse of Arclight Phoenix and the Modern powerhouse of Faithless Looting to pave a quick and flashy path to victory.
